The West Fork of the Little River supports several rare species within a mile downstream. The Lewis tract lies in the upper Little River watershed, and is just downstream from the Pisgah Covered Bridge, a permanently protected site. The waters have an excellent bioclassification. Protection of the tract benefits a planned conservation corridor.
EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
