Acres: 2,152 Acquisition date: 1/23/04 Acquired in partnership with the Piedmont Land Conservancy, the tract features scenic vistas and trout streams in the upper Mitchell River headwaters.

A transfer to the state Wildlife Resources Commission for public use is planned. The acquisition protects seven miles of outstanding resource waters. 10,000 contiguous acres are now protected in the upper Mitchell watershed.

EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
