Steep bluffs and rock outcrops along this lovely stretch of river were protected from development and will be managed as a state natural area by the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation.

The area is popular with canoeists and kayakers. Fifty species of birds nest on the site, and bald eagles have been seen on the property.
EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
