The first tract of the newly authorized Haw River State Park Corridor includes a rare piedmont swamp forest, and will allow low-impact access to the Upper Haw River's scenic and recreational resources. The river is habitat for several rare aquatic species.

  

EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
