Adjacent to the historic Pisgah Covered Bridge, and upstream from the important Little River Aquatic Habitat, this property protects headwater areas that are important for the rare mussel species downstream, including the Carolina creekshell, Atlantic pigtoe, and Notched rainbow. A rare fish, the Carolina darter, also occurs downstream.

EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
