Preservation of this property contributes to the protection of a larger corridor along this significant aquatic habitat. This stream has been given a bioclassification of excellent by the Division of Water Quality due to the important fish community in this stretch of water.

The Natural Heritage Program has designated the site as a significant natural heritage area.
