This easement protects about one-third of a mile of frontage along Shelton Creek, a nationally significant body of water that contains several rare species, including the federally endangered dwarf wedgemussel. |
 |
The forest is dominated by tulip trees and oak species, including scarlet, black and northern red oak. The streams on this tract contain dwarf wedgemussels, as well as the rare creeper, Eastern lampmussel, notched rainbow, and Eastern creekshell. The small floodplain pools on the tract provide habitat for frogs and salamanders.EEP helped to fund several conservation easements along this stream, which was targeted by the program due to the importance of aquatic habits in the creek.
