N.C. Ecosystem Enhancement Program
SANDY CREEK A&P TIMBER, FRANKLIN COUNTY

Acres: 18.5

Acquisition date: 9/28/05

Acquisition of this parcel contributes to a corridor of protected riparian buffers and wetlands along the nationally significant aquatic habitat of Sandy Creek. The federal species of concern Atlantic pigtoe and state-threatened Creeper are two mussel species that live in the creek just above and below this site.

EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
