A tulip tree, red maple, and honey locust forest buffers the interstate highway I-26 from the Green River Game Lands. It borders another permanent easement area that was protected by the Pacolet Area Conservancy. The diverse plant community includes mountain laurel, great rhododendron, wild hydrangea, black cohosh and galax.

EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
