N.C. Ecosystem Enhancement Program
DUTCH SECOND CREEK HILL, ROWAN COUNTY

Acres: 17

Acquisition date: 10/18/05

Purchase of the conservation easement here protects the state special concern mussel species Notched rainbow, which has been located just downstream of this tract. Riparian buffers on this property protect high-quality waters south of the confluence of the Yadkin and South Yadkin rivers.

Nearly 12 miles of stream at other sites along this conservation corridor have been protected by the local land trust.

EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
