Acres: 40
Acquisition date: 12/23/05
A cypress-gum swamp with scattered large old bald-cypress trees exists in this easement area. The presence of cypress trees in the Piedmont makes the site unusual. The opposite side of the creek will be permanently protected in a separate acquisition. The property contributes to a conservation corridor and contains high-quality riparian habitat.
EEP’s preservation efforts result from a partnership with the N.C. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. NCDOT is a major contributor of funding on this project.
