The Ecosystem Enhancement Program provides high-quality, cost-effective projects for watershed improvement and protection. These projects:

• Help the state to compensate for unavoidable environmental impacts associated with transportation infrastructure and economic development.

• Provide detailed watershed-planning and project-implementation efforts within North Carolina's threatened or degraded watersheds; and

• Assist in preserving open space in partnership with public and private organizations across the state through high-quality preservation acquisitions.
